A simple aggregation of research by Paul Buchheit on AlterNet reveals that each family in the United States pays an average of US$6,000 towards transfers for politically-advantaged individuals and companies. That includes, for example, US$870 each for direct corporate welfare, as reported by the Cato Institute. Similarly, US American households pay about US$696 each for preferential business “incentives” at the state, county, and city levels.
The largest transfer, according to analysis from the Center for Economic and Policy Research, actually comes from protectionism related to the medial industry — US$2,000 per family.
