Spanish.- President of the United States, Joe Biden, is “too old” to be an effective president, a factor that could be a threat to his re-election this year, at the age of 81. This was the impression of the majority of the Democrat’s voters in 2020, according to a survey published by the New York Times and Siena College.
The figures, not encouraging for the national leader, show that among his electorate, 61% of those surveyed in this poll said they thought the Democrat was “too old” to be an effective leader in performing his duties. Similarly, 19% of those who voted for him in 2020 indicated that the octogenarian’s age was such a problem that he was no longer able to do his job.

The reading on these disadvantages of Biden, accompanied by his very consistent episodes of confusion and disorientation in public, generates a concern that transcends generations, gender, race, and education. This concern, instead of dissipating, grows within his own party like the Republican attacks that portray him as senile.
The survey was conducted more than two weeks after, in the context of an investigation, a special prosecutor described the president as a “well-intentioned old man, but with poor memory” and “diminished faculties” due to his age.
Over the past few months, Biden has had several lapses in his speeches, such as confusing Emmanuel Macron, the current French president, with François Mitterrand, who led France from 1981 to 1995 and died in 1996.
However, last week, the national leader received a clean bill of health in his annual physical exam, and his doctor rated him as “fit for duty”. If re-elected, Biden would break his own record as the oldest sitting president. Trump would be 82 years old at the end of his term, and the Democrat would be 86.
