“The manifest confirmation of electoral fraud far exceeds one million votes and by its magnitude, has no precedent in the region,” Almagro said. (Twitter)

EspañolVenezuela continues to feel mounting international pressure, as Secretary General of the Organization of American States Luis Almagro said this week that he is requesting an “urgent” meeting to discuss the fraudulent elections that took place Sunday.

Almagro proposed that the meeting take place either next Friday, August 4 or Saturday, August 5.

“This urgent request originates from the immediate need to address the worsening crisis in Venezuela caused by the illegitimate electoral process that led to the election of a National Constituent Assembly,” Almagro said in his request, which he addressed ot the Chair of the Organization’s Permanent Council in Brazil.

Almagro spoke about the electoral fraud carried out by the regime and the National Electoral Council, which came to light following a statement by Smartmatic, the company in charge of the elections, that said the official government figures don’t match those in their system.

“The manifest confirmation of electoral fraud far exceeds one million votes and by its magnitude, has no precedent in the region,” Almagro said.

The petition came after Almagro spoke with Venezuelan Attorney General Luisa Ortega, who denounced “personal threats” against him for criticizing Nicolás Maduro’s regime, and the rupture of a constitutional order.

The election of the Constituent Assembly last Sunday left 10 dead, according to the Venezuelan Attorney General’s Office, and 14 according to the opposition coalition, The Democratic Unity Roundtable, bringing the death count to 121 since demonstrations first flared in April.

MUD refused to participate in the process because it considered it fraudulent.
