The representative of the international organization talked about Argentinean President Mauricio Macri‘s position. When he met with him last Monday he gave a very critical vision of the lack of respect to human rights in Venezuela. However, it is necessary he also back the Democratic Charter to revert this situation, he argued.
Vivanco pointed out that the position of Chancellor Susana Malcorra will defend dialogue between the opposition and Nicolas Maduro’s government. This, according to him, isn’t enough after the report of 21 arbitrary detentions between May and July.
“We haven’t seen any progress in Venezuela. We believe the situation is worsening,” he said.
