EspañolOn Sunday, Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos was reelected to another four-year term. According to the latest data from the National Civil Registry of Colombia, Juan Manuel Santos won the second round of elections with 7.8 million votes (50.92 percent), versus almost 6.9 million votes (45.03 percent) gained by the opposition candidate Oscar Iván Zuluaga. Dissatisfaction remained high, with 619,113 blank votes cast, or 4.04 percent of all ballots.
Some 33 million Colombians were eligible to decide in the runoff between President Juan Manuel Santos and Oscar Ivan Zuluaga, in what commentators say has been the closest presidential elections in 20 years.
In the first round, 55 year-old former Finance Minister Zuluaga beat Santos by almost 460,000 votes. However, political support from other parties in the last 20 days reduced the difference between the two candidates.
