EspañolOn Monday, president of Venezuela’s National Assembly, Diosdado Cabello, accused over 20 people of plotting a coup against the government of Nicolás Maduro.

During his television program broadcast by the state channel Venezolana de Televisión, the army officer and right hand of the late President Hugo Chávez named the alleged conspirators: Alfredo Romero, director of the Venezuelan Penal Forum, an NGO which has provided defense attorneys for detained students, and Rodrigo Diamanti, head of A World Without Censorship, who was arrested by the Bolivarian Intelligence (SEBIN) and later released under parole.

Cabello also singled out the mayor of Caracas, Antonio Ledezma, as the man responsible for the logistical organization of student protests in Venezuela, including the delivery of drugs, arms, and ammunition for recent riots.

The president of the National Assembly traced 14 of the accused to the Global Shapers Community, an NGO sponsored by the World Economic Forum. Cabello alleges that its founder and CEO Klaus Schwab has been diverting resources to fund and support violent youth groups in Venezuela.
