EspañolAccording to a notice posted on the official website of the US embassy in Caracas, Venezuela, tourist visas for Venezuelans have been suspended due to the expulsion of several US diplomats by the Nicolás Maduro administration.
The policy change applies to all first-time applicants seeking tourist visas (B1/B2), except in cases of emergency. The expulsion of US diplomats, officials contend, has left the embassy understaffed and unable to schedule appointments for new applicants.
However, the US embassy clarified by stating, “if you already have an appointment, please keep your scheduled date and time, since under current staffing conditions it is not likely that we will be able to reschedule your appointment in a timely fashion.”
For those affected by this change, the embassy has suggested applicants look abroad to other US embassies or consulates in the region as a temporary solution, until they can return to “normal work levels.”
