Venezuela: One Wounded, Two Dead after Opposition Protest

EspañolAfter the opposition rally ended in Caracas this evening, violence emerged. Armed groups arrived on motorcycles, approached the protesters who remained on the streets, and opened fire.

So far, there are two dead and one wounded. Student Basil Da Costa died from a shot to the head, and police officer Juan Montoya was also killed. Montoya belonged to the Chavista community group January 23 (23 de Enero). A bodyguard for journalists from the news site Noticias24 was also wounded.

Riots have also been reported in different parts of the country, such as Mérida, where police officers attacked protesters. One student was injured and is now in a coma.
