Two earthquakes hit Chile this morning, but so far there are no reports of damages or injuries.
According to the US Geological Survey, the first quake — of magnitude-5.5 — struck at 5:43 a.m. on Wednesday morning approximately 30 kilometers from the northern city of Calama. The second quake, of magnitude-5.2, occurred at 10:35 a.m.
The second earthquake caused buildings to sway in the capital of Santiago, approximately 167 kilometers away from the epicenter. Similar to Calama, no damage has been reported.
One of the most earthquake-prone nations in the world, Chile suffered a devastating quake in 2010 which killed more than 500 people.
