The National Institute for Statistics and Census in Argentina (INDEC in Spanish), has announced today that the inflation rate in Argentina for 2013 was 10.9 percent. The agency also released the figure for December, calculated to be 1.4 percent.
The official index is a third of what private consulting firms have calculated for the same period. Their numbers for December were around 3.3 percent, with annual inflation for last year at 28.3 percent.
This is the last time the INDEC will use the methodology from the former commerce secretary, Guillermo Moreno. He was in charge of the agency from 2007 until his resignation in November.
