Everyone’s favorite group of public servants — yes, the National Security Agency (NSA) — appears to have suffered a cyber attack on Friday, and its public website remains down into the evening.
As reported on RT, some Twitter accounts have released claims that it was the “hacktivist” group Anonymous, by way of a distributed denial-of-service attack, or DDoS.
Such an attack would be illegal, but given the decentralized nature of the group, there appears to be little likelihood of prosecution. Further, the public website does not mean any of the controversial activities or storage capacities are also down.
