Perhaps Latin America’s most recognized contemporary novelist, and a man mindful of individual liberty, Mario Vargas Llosa has released a new work of fiction. Available from September 12 but only in Spanish at this point, El héroe discreto is set in Lima and Piura, Peru, and it tells of two very different businessmen caught in their own feuds. As Amazon.com explains, “both are quiet rebels trying to take charge of their own destinies.”
Vargas Llosa is a visiting lecturer at Princeton University in New Jersey.
