Since the 1970s, Los Tigres del Norte — a Norteño band based in San Jose, California — have been known to be sympathetic with the struggles of illegal immigrants in the United States. To show their continued support, they held a free concert on October 8 at the Immigration Rally at the National Mall in Washington D.C.
The lead singer, Jorge Hernandez, said, “[We] will sing the songs and experiences of our people . . . We’re going to raise our voice peacefully, and I hope that they listen to us and give us the strength . . . for immigration reform to be achieved.”
