Last year, Chile began an initiative called “La Semana de la PYME” to grow its economy and promote innovative entrepreneurship. This past weekend, sepecific awards, called “Premio PYME,” rewarded the finest small and medium-sized businesses in the country.
The award for the most innovative went to Milkeeper, which developed a powder now used in calf feed to combat bacteria in meat. The Female Entrepreneur of the Year went to Beatriz Canales, whose business makes pastries and desserts without using gluten, lactose, or sugar. Entrepreneur of the Year went to Puntaje Nacional, which is an online site that provides resources for studying and preparation for classes.
