Escondida mining company in Chile, the holder of the world’s largest copper deposits, has lost an entire day of production. They had little choice when at least 2,500 of their workers went on a strike yesterday (Wednesday). Mine managers have not shared the total loss to the company.
The mine’s workers union members were seeking the payment of a US$5,000 bonus (which they received last year), better control of working overtime, and removal of the surveillance camera system from the mining company trucks.
