Peruvian officials plan to award infrastructure concessions close to the tune of US$11 billion this year, compared with US$700 million in 2012, according to the state investment promotion agency ProInversión.
Among the projects slated for fourth quarter tenders totaling some US $10.7 billion are the Mertro Line 2, the Sur Peruano natural gas line, the third stage of the Chavimochic irrigation project, the liquefied petroleum gas pipeline in Lima and Callao, and the Moyabamba-Iquitos power line, said ProInversion Director Javier Illescas.
“Projects that are self-sustainable have no problem financing themselves,” Illescas said, according to Business News America. “Europe is desperate to invest, so there is still a great deal of interest in our sector,” he added.
