Three foreign companies are exploring the feasibility of an interoceanic train line to cross Honduras from the Caribbean to the Pacific Ocean, according to the Honduran Congress’s Public Works Committee.
China’s Harbour Engineering Company signed an agreement for a feasibility study on July 10, 2013. The other firms were from Canada and Italy, but committee head, Miguel Angel Gámez, did not name the companies nor did he give projected estimates.
“This is a great step forward that will make our country a leader, not only in Central America but in all Latin America,” Gámez told Radio America.
