Spanish – Nancy Pelosi does not abandon her desire for power. She finally achieved her goal and is reelected as president of the House of Representatives.
Pelosi, 80, renews her mandate for two more years thanks to her insistence on staying in office and the letters she sent to every member of congress from her party to vote for her.
This victory comes amid the decline of Democratic seats in the House of Representatives, which was left with 220 seats after the November 3 elections, Fox News reports. Previously the Democratic Party had 233 seats.
This decline annoyed the official, who in previous days said she was “disappointed” that the Democrats did not expand support in places like Texas, showing that she only aims at power.
In recent months, Pelosi has been vehement in her statements, attacking the Republican Party and the policies of President Donald Trump.
Pelosi and her circus
After the preliminary results of the elections were known, the Speaker of the House of Representatives made a threatening speech to her detractors that already showed how her next administration would come about.
“We won the war. We have the gavel,” she said, just three days after the election. These words were enough to understand what the congresswoman thinks, coming closer to a speech more akin to a left-wing totalitarian regime.
In the same line, after being reelected, Pelosi attacked the Republican side, which has been denouncing irregularities in the counting of votes in several states of the country.
The judicial processes carried out by Donald Trump’s team are based on the mail ballots, lists of voters with deceased, and counts without Republican witnesses.
“They are immersed in an absurd circus right now in their refusal to accept reality,” Pelosi said at a press conference at the Capitol, reported by EFE.
Pelosi said they are “tactics of delay and denial of reality” by the Republicans. She also blamed them for having “contributed to more deaths” from COVID-19, the virus that has affected the entire planet even with the strictest quarantines.
Lavishing praise
The 80-year-old Democrat has a clear goal: to stay in power and not let go. At one point, she even aspired beyond Congress and expressed her willingness to become interim president of the United States.
In summary, Pelosi’s theory was that if neither candidate reached 270 votes, she could hold office until the final result was clear.
However, the country was saved from these ambitions because several previous scenarios were necessary. In recent statements, Donald Trump’s fierce opponent showered Joe Biden with praise.
“The elections are over. Joe Biden is the president-elect. Elected with a mandate of more than 78 million votes,” she said.
Conflicting behavior
Pelosi has repeatedly criticized the Trump government’s performance because, in her opinion, it did not act correctly to prevent deaths from coronavirus.
However, the official was a victim of her own words and had to retreat. She herself organized an indoor dinner with all the newly elected members of Congress over the weekend, something that goes against essential measures to prevent contagion.
Please cancel these in-person dinners, @SpeakerPelosi & @kevinomccarthy to keep everyone safe from #covid19 – yourselves, your new members, servers, the Capitol Police, and all of their families and contacts. And, to show public health leadership,” said Chelsea Clinton, daughter of former President Bill Clinton, when a photo of the decorated room was released.

At first, Ms. Pelosi’s office upheld the decision and said, “Our office strictly follows the guidance of the Office of Attending Physician, including for this dinner. To be a further model for the nation, this event has been modified to allow Members-elect to pick up their meals to go in a socially-distanced manner,” reported the Independent.
But 90 minutes later, her deputy chief of staff tweeted: “Members-elect are now picking up their boxed meals and departing the Capitol. There is no group dinner. Members-elect are in DC already for orientation.”
