Spanish – Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, current lawyer for US President Donald Trump, spoke on Thursday about irregularities in the presidential election occurred in key states. Giuliani pointed to the Dominion Voting System company as being “hackable” in order to be able to change the votes. And he added a detail: this company would be owned by Smartmatic, a firm linked to the Venezuelan dictatorship.
During an interview with journalist Lou Dobbs on Fox Business channel, the lawyer noted that these irregularities were already denounced in 2019 by the secretary of state in Texas, who refused to use the “Suite 5.5” voting system.
However, several states ignored this warning. As a matter of fact, Dominion participated in the presidential elections in 28 of them. This includes the territories currently under dispute: Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
Giuliani’s accusations became harsher as he spoke about the origins of the Dominion Voting System and the company’s alleged connection with Smartmatic, one of the most questioned automated voting companies, due to its proximity to Hugo Chávez’s circle.

In this regard, Giuliani explained that “Dominion is a company owned by another company called Smartmatic, through an intermediary company named Indra.”
The company Giuliani refers to would be Indra Sistemas S.A., better known as Indra. It is a Spanish multinational company that offers consulting services on transport, defense, energy, telecommunications, among other activities. In fact, during his interview, Giuliani did not hesitate to indicate that “the votes go to Barcelona, Spain.”
As he stressed, “Smartmatic was founded in 2004. It was formed by three Venezuelans, who were very close to the dictator Hugo Chávez. It was formed to fix elections. That’s the company that owns Dominion. Dominion is a Canadian company, but all its software is from Smartmatic.”
In another interview, in this case with the journalist María Bartiromo, from the same chain, Giuliani added that three sources informed him that “the funding for Dominion came from Venezuela.”
Smartmatic in the public eye
Smartmatic company is under scrutiny in the United States for having been present in key states during the elections and having operated for questioned elections in Venezuela for many years.
The company, which provides machines and technology, has been marketing its services in the United States since 2006. By 2015, it already maintained and configured 58,000 counting and voting machines that had been sold to 307 jurisdictions in the country.
The states that hired its services were Arizona, Colorado, District of Columbia, Florida, Illinois, Louisiana, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, Nevada, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin
In addition, it developed and manufactured the device used to consolidate data from different voting machines, to print reports and to transmit figures to totalization centers.
Based on these facts, Trump’s attorney pointed out a fact of vital importance. “We are using a foreign company, owned by Venezuelans who were close to Chávez and are now close to Maduro. They also have a history of being a company that was founded in order to fix elections. They have a terrible track record and they (the machines) are extremely hackable.”
When Smartmatic began operating in Venezuela in 2004, the Chavista regime praised it as a cutting-edge technology that would speed up the electoral process with supposedly transparent results.
Now, in the 2020 presidential elections, Smartmatic got to participate in the most populous county in the American Union: Los Angeles. A jurisdiction with 5.2 million registered voters and 5,000 polling places.
On its website, Smartmatic claims it installed 31,100 voting machines, representing the largest electoral acquisition in North America. The company also marketed the integration, engineering and manufacturing of the new voting system.
The decision was made by the Board of Supervisors of Los Angeles County to develop its “Voting Solution for All” (VSAP).
The role of Dominion Voting Systems
The multinational company operates in the United States hand in hand with Dominion Voting Systems. It bought the company’s technology through its Sequoia subsidiary, according to American Thinker.
Dominion has been criticized for irregularities and was accused by President Donald Trump on Thursday. He wrote on his Twitter account: “Dominion deleted 2.7 million Trump votes nationwide. Data analysis finds 221,000 Pennsylvania votes switched from President Trump to Biden. 941,000 Trump votes deleted. States using Dominion Voting Systems switched 435,000 votes from Trump to Biden.”
“REPORT: DOMINION DELETED 2.7 MILLION TRUMP VOTES NATIONWIDE. DATA ANALYSIS FINDS 221,000 PENNSYLVANIA VOTES SWITCHED FROM PRESIDENT TRUMP TO BIDEN. 941,000 TRUMP VOTES DELETED. STATES USING DOMINION VOTING SYSTEMS SWITCHED 435,000 VOTES FROM TRUMP TO BIDEN.” @ChanelRion @OANN

On the other hand, Dominion denies being tied to Smartmatic, although it recognizes that at a certain moment it allowed it to market its same technology abroad, in places where Dominion did not do business, as the American Thinker article completes.
Dominion’s failures that were ignored
The list of Dominion system’s flaws is long. In fact, journalist Lou Dobbs showed a 2019 report issued by the Secretary of State in Texas that listed a series of irregularities in the so-called “Dominion’s democracy suite 5.5A machine.” It is precisely one of the models used in these elections, for example, in Pennsylvania. Among the problems of the voting machine, the report highlighted “the inability to verify and retain a party ballot, while not voting.” Another flaw in Dominion’s electoral management system is that it was error-prone. This situation made it difficult to control the jurisdictions. “The scanner and tabulator were subject to paper jams, and to clear those jams, the protective seals had to be broken. This allowed poll workers to mislead the voters’ choices, ” reflected the report referred by Dobbs. Finally, after giving its opinion on the matter, the Texas Secretary of State banned the use of this voting system.
Giuliani wondered the reasons why other states continue implementing Dominion as a platform for the presidential elections. “If the right decision was already made in Texas, why was Georgia hiring this company? Well, he warned, “the lobbyist for Dominion was a former official in the governor’s cabinet”.
Giuliani’s warnings
As Trump’s attorney, Giuliani has been one of the main spokespersons advocating for post-election voting irregularities. He recently declared that some 650,000 votes would have been illegally counted in Pennsylvania.
He explained that “almost none” of the ballots were observed by members of the Republican Party and rejected the allegations about lack of evidence argued by some media regarding the party’s claims. Since the voting ended, Giuliani has monitored the counting of votes along with Donald Trump. Points in favor were obtained in states such as Georgia, where the Justice ordered a manual counting of five million votes and also in Pennsylvania, where the Supreme Court ruled to separate the votes received after the polls’ closure.
To close his interview, Giuliani spoke about the proceedings he is leading on behalf of Trump. “I’m working on the part of the case that is showing how many illegal votes were registered and I’m beyond the margin that I need in Pennsylvania or Michigan to override the vote there.”
