EspañolThousands of Mexican Uber drivers will cease operations during four hours today in order to demand that the company disable its fixed rate during peak hours and equalize fees for the Uber and UberPool services. The striking drivers also want Uber to offer more hours of training for its employees and to limit the total amount of vehicles that use the application.

According to the strike’s participants, the protest will take place between 15:00 and 19:00 local time. “It will have a strong impact because demand is high at that time. It’s also pay day for man companies. We think that this will affect the service and the rates for users ,” said one of its spokesmen.

While organizers ignore the total number of drivers who will take part in the protest, a Change.org petition with their demands did gather over 20,000 signatures.

ORDER OF THE DAY FOR THE PARTNER INFORMATIVE SESSION OF 06
Uber sent an email this week stating that it was committed to meeting the drivers’ demands, but the company claimed that some statements regarding its operation in Mexico are misleading.

A group of drivers have made statements that misinform public opinion. Uber wishes to make clear that it has respected the agreements on terms and conditions. No partner has undergone a change in the Uber service rates…

The company added: “We confirm our commitment to our partner drivers and remind them that channels for personalized attention are available to them.”
