EspañolThe Mexican government will begin a formal consultation process with the private sector to determine how to proceed with possible changes to the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).

The consultation will be coordinated by the Secretary of Economy. The Senate will be involved in the consultation, which will look similar to the one carried out by the US government for its own interests.

“The consultation process is indispensable for modernizing NAFTA, which serves the national interest, as is done in the case of the Agreement between Mexico and the European Union, whose negotiation will also occur in 2017.”
