The murder of DNC staffer Seth Rich has led to speculation that he was a wikileaks source (Media Matters).

The mysterious death of DNC staffer Seth Rich in Washington DC last July had received scant attention from the mainstream media, until the mantle of an investigation had been taken up by several top Republicans, most recently by former House Speaker and key Trump associate Newt Gingrich, as well as Fox News and radio host Sean Hannity.

Indeed, it is time for a complete and transparent investigation into the Seth Rich murder, now that it seems possible that Rich was, indeed, a key source for wikileaks, presumably because he was angry over the DNC’s favoritism to Clinton over Bernie Sanders.

As much as the mainstream media does not want to cover this story, I predict over the course of the coming weeks they will have no other choice. Julian Assange has personally commented on the Rich case, further fueling suspicion of the staffer’s involvement with the wikileaks organization.

What remains clear is that in this unbelievably polarized age, conservatives and liberals are increasingly believing what they want to believe, as opposed to reality.

Rod Wheeler, a private investigator and former DC homicide detective who was indirectly hired by the Rich family, claims to have personally seen evidence that Rich was in touch with wikileaks. The veracity of the claim is yet to be determined.

New Zealand internet entrepreneur Kim Dotcom recently caused a wave of media reaction when he claimed that Seth Rich, was indeed the leaker, and that the two had been in touch before regarding the formation of an American branch of the “Internet Party.”

I knew Seth Rich. I know he was the @Wikileaks source. I was involved. https://t.co/MbGQteHhZM

— Kim Dotcom (@KimDotcom) May 20, 2017

Is Mr. Dotcom, the founder of the Megaupload piracy site, and subject of numerous civil and criminal investigations, an unimpeachable source? That remains to be seen.

The Rich family has publicly criticized the right-wing blogosphere for spreading so-called “conspiracy theories” about Rich’s death. They have hired Brad Bauman, as family spokesman.

Bauman noted, “Even if tomorrow, an email was found, it is not a high enough bar of evidence to prove any interactions as emails can be altered and we’ve seen that those interested in pushing conspiracies will stop at nothing to do so…We are a family who is committed to facts, not fake evidence that surfaces every few months to fill the void and distract law enforcement and the general public from finding Seth’s murderers.”

So family spokesman Brad Bauman appears to be admitting here that evidence is going to come out that Rich, did, in fact have “some contact” with wikileaks as investigator Rod Wheeler is saying.

Is it possible that Rich did not in any way, shape, or form share content with wikileaks? Yes…it’s possible.

I also think it’s entirely possible that he did. And I have little faith in the good people at the mainstream media to conduct an impartial investigation. A recent Harvard study indicated 89% of the news coverage of the Trump administration’s first 6 months has been negative. It seems clear that the staff at most mainstream media outlets would go out of their way not to investigate evidence that may point to Rich’s involvement with wikileaks.

Perhaps Rod Wheeler and the unnamed federal investigators and Kim DotCom and Julian Assange are all psychopathic liars who are pulling our leg to promote their own agenda. It’s possible. I also think it’s possible there is much more to this story that is going to come out over the next week.

If Seth Rich was murdered in a “random robbery” why were his watch, cash, jewelry, and phone left intact on his person? Do you know how rare it is that someone is just murdered at random by two shots in the back for absolutely no good reason? Nearly a year later, the police have not been able to find a shred of evidence about the murder. That is also rare. If it was a random robbery, the culprits surely would have stolen his personal effects.

Julian Assange remains a key element in the entire Seth Rich saga. Wikileaks has offered a $20,000 reward for information regarding Rich’s murder. Assange has also repeatedly denied that the Russian government was the source for the hacked DNC emails. He has even insinuated on Dutch television that Rich was in fact the source:

Assange: “Whistleblowers go to significant efforts to get us material, often very significant risks. There’s a 27-year-old that works for the DNC who was shot in the back, murdered, just two weeks ago, for unknown reasons as he was walking down the street in Washington. So…”

Anchor: “That was just a robbery, I believe, wasn’t it?”

Assange: “No, there’s no finding. So, ah – ”

Anchor: “What are you suggesting? What are you suggesting?”

Assange: “I am suggesting that our sources, ah, take risks and they, they become concerned to see things occurring like that.”

Is Assange irresponsibly fanning the flames of a government cover-up conspiracy theory, that incidentally will help to take some off the heat off the Trump-Russia investigation? Perhaps.

Or perhaps, he does know something that we don’t know, and is unable to confirm Rich’s involvement as a matter of principle in order to protect the identities of leakers.

Only a full, transparent, apolitical investigation into Rich’s murder will put this issue to rest. In today’s highly polarized political environment, that appears increasingly unlikely.
